Evaluation of Corporate Training Programs
SIS also assists organizations to better understand
the effectiveness of their current training programs and how those
programs can be enhanced to improve organizational performance.
Specifically, organizational training programs can
evaluated with respect to the following attributes:
Curriculum mapping
- What is the scope and sequence of training programs?
- What are the major training tracks?
- Does each track lead to a certificate or credential
Adequacy and relevancy of training materials
- Are the materials current and relevant?
- Is the scope and sequence appropriate?
- Are prerequisites established and justified?
- In cases where a body of knowledge (BOK) has been
established by accrediting agencies (e.g., American Society for
Quality), are the training materials aligned with the corresponding
BOK?
- Does each topical unit have exercises or projects
to emphasize performance-based learning?
Effectiveness of delivery modes (self study, CBT, instructor
led, online, etc.)
- What is the total amount of training time for each
major training track?
- What is the balance between self study and instructor-led
learning?
Cost effectiveness
- What is the total cost of training per track?
- Are the costs comparable with standard training costs?
- Are there cost recovery programs? (e.g., tuition, fees, publications,
etc.)
- How are the training costs justified?
- Are there clear ROI measures?
Results
- Level 1: How are training sessions perceived by students?
- Level 2: How is the adequacy and relevancy of training perceived
by the students?
- Level 3: How are training results perceived by supervisors?
Alignment
- Is the training program aligned with the major corporate initiatives
and goals (e.g., being the price leader, being the premium brand,
expanding market share, reducing costs, etc.)
